Utility Industry: Power Generation, Power Lines and Sub Stations
The electrical power utility industry uses stainless banding for cable bundling and for the securement of brackets, control boxes, enclosures, insulators and transformers to steel, wood and concrete power transmission poles. Stainless banding is also used in direct burial and underground power transmission lines. The power utility industry also uses stainless steel banding to secure cable splice kits and boxes on power transmission lines.
Type 201 and 300 series stainless are typically adequate in this environment. Stainless buckles and wing clip / wing seals are used to secure stainless banding. The PMB 001 Crank Tite or PMB 101 Ratchet tensioner are used to tighten the straps, depending on the application, strap size and tension requirements. The PMB 001 Crank Tite tensioner offers up to 2500 lbs. of tension and is typically used with stainless buckles. The PMB 101 Ratchet Tensioner and wing clips/ wing seals are used with .015" to .025" thick 300 series banding. Stainless steel banding provides a strong, secure, versatile, temperature resistant, UV resistant and corrosion resistant method of securement.
